Information

Haemorrhoids are a common condition that affects at least half of the population at least once in their lifetime. A haemorrhoid is a structure that develops as a result of loosening or disruption of the connective tissue in the area between the rectum and the anal canal. The loosened tissue may then prolapse into the anal canal or even outside through the anal opening.

In the resting state, haemorrhoids may not cause significant pain or symptoms up to a certain stage of progression. Problems typically occur during straining during bowel movements or heavy physical exertion. Advanced haemorrhoids may cause pain and discomfort even at rest.

More information about symptoms and treatment options can be found on a separate page.

Haemorrhoidectomy

The procedure begins with general anaesthesia to ensure that the patient does not feel any pain or discomfort during the operation. The surgeon makes an incision in the area of the rectum or anus to access the haemorrhoids. They are then carefully removed, the area is cleaned, and the wounds are closed.

Stapled haemorrhoid surgery

This is a modern surgical technique, also known as the Longo procedure, used for the treatment of internal haemorrhoids and rectal mucosal prolapse. It is usually less painful than conventional haemorrhoidectomy and allows for a faster recovery.

The procedure is performed under general or local anaesthesia. The surgeon inserts a stapling device into the anal canal to access the internal haemorrhoids and removes excess tissue using the device.

All procedures, if the course is uncomplicated, are performed as day surgery. The choice of procedure is always discussed with the doctor during the consultation.

At our clinic, we provide care beyond the scope of services covered by public health insurance. The fee for a one-time consultation, including examination and discussion of the procedure, is CZK 2,500. You can find our full price list here.
